| Product Review: The durable, insulated X Gaiters from Outdoor Research are designed to fit over welted leather boots, leaving the sole exposed for skiing or climbing. A 1000-denier Cordura foot section protects an interior layer of waterproof, coated packcloth from sharp rocks and ski edges. The foot section can be insulated with two types of foam: warm open-cell foam for use with step-in crampons, or firm closed-cell foam for crampons that require straps. Tabs of two-inch webbing can be clipped into three-pin telemark bindings or into the bales of step-in crampons to keep the toe of the gaiter in place. |
